New faces. Who is John Harricharan?

Who is John Harricharan?

Outstanding businessman, lecturer and award-winning author, John Harricharan, is a unique blend of East and West. A naturalized U.S. citizen born in Guyana, South America of East Indian heritage, he is truly a multi-cultural, global personality. Yet, with his professional background, he also exhibits a rare sensitivity and charismatic delivery which have earned him well deserved respect and acclaim.

However, he was to know failure as well as success. The events that led to both are incorporated in his lectures and are chronicled in his books, which, rather than being stories of loss and sadness are, instead, inspiring tales of courage, strength and the dignity of the human spirit. He has shared the lecture platform with such well-known speakers as Deepak Chopra, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, Og Mandino, Gerald Jampolsky, Foster Hibbard, Eric Butterworth, C. Everett Koop and others.

His transformational message stems from his challenging personal growth experiences. As Harricharan says, "I know what it feels like to have my car repossessed, to watch my wife die of cancer, to lose all earthly possessions and start again from ground zero. I also know what it feels like to write an award-winning book, to be written about in others' books and to be featured in the same book with His Royal Highness, Prince Philip of Great Britain, the Dalai Lama and Paul and Linda McCartney. The contrasts bring compassion and sensitivity to one's life."

Lecturer

Bright, well-educated and professional in demeanor, John brings a welcome, pragmatic approach to his lectures, as an outstanding example where the message and the messenger are one.Not only does John share his personal tragedies; he shares the extraordinary tools he uses to overcome his challenges. He meets his audience filled with energy and enthusiasm. His approach is inspirational and motivational, contagiously so and always, always memorable.

Dr. Deepak Chopra, best-selling author and speaker, refers to Harricharan as, "A skilled and eloquent guide" Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, renowned psychiatrist and bestselling author says, "John Harricharan brilliantly inspires you, motivates you and teaches you. He's fantastic ... absolutely fantastic."

Author

Not only is Harricharan a dynamic speaker, but he also reveals himself to be an extraordinary, compelling author. His award-winning book, When You Can Walk on Water, Take the Boat was named 'Best Book of the Year' by the American Bookdealers Exchange. Its sequel, Morning Has Been All Night Coming has been drawing rave reviews. Both books are published in the U.S. and Canada by Berkley Books. In the U.K., Australia and New Zealand they are published by HarperCollins and are also availabIe in Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese editions.

Businessman

Harricharan graduated summa cum laude, with degrees in chemistry and an MBA from Rutgers University. He started his career with Fortune 500 corporations and worked his way into upper level executive positions. His corporate expertise encompasses areas as varied as Production Management, Research and Development and Marketing. He then proceeded, by blending his knowledge of the corporate world with his entrepreneurial talents, to build an extremely successful business with offices in the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and India. He finally switched from managing his company into what he really loves to do. So now he travels extensively, speaking at seminars and consulting for corporations, organizations and a private clientele worldwide. His extensive experience coupled with his knowledge of multi-cultural inter-relationships afford him the ability to relate to diverse cultures with respect and integrity.

John Harricharan about Foster Hibbard ideas in his life

Dear reader,

Many, many years ago, I read a well-known, best-selling book called "Think and Grow Rich." The author was Dr. Napoleon Hill, a person who had spent over twenty-five years studying the habits and secrets of some of the wealthiest people on Earth.

Since my first reading of "Think and Grow Rich," I've bought many additional copies as gifts for friends and family, I've studied the contents of the book, over and over again. It has been, and still is, one of the most important books about money and how to get lots of it.

Most people who are rich (or are becoming rich) have heard of, or read this wonderful book. I always wondered how Dr. Napoleon Hill was able to accomplish such an intimidating task.

Over the years I've had the good fortune to meet some of the truly magnificent personalities of our time. Some of them even became good friends. I've met and known members of presidential families, movie stars, famous authors, etc. Yes, it is true that I personally know Muhammad Ali, Deepak Chopra, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and others. But I never met Dr. Napoleon Hill. How I wished I had.

Then one day, a friend called and said she wanted me to speak with someone she knew. Every once in a long, long while, an opportunity presents itself, which, if grasped, would lead to unexpected good fortune. I called the number my friend offered and, so it was, that I came to know Foster Hibbard.

At first, I knew very little about Foster. But, very soon, I was to find out the true measure of this man. He was one of those rare individuals to have studied and lectured with the famous Dr. Napoleon Hill of "Think and Grow Rich." At one time, he was the Director of the Napoleon Hill Academy in Southern California.

But that's not all. Some of Foster's well-known schoolmates were George Bush Sr., William Buckley, Jack Lemmon, the Rockefellers, and others, just as famous and rich. However, from his observations, Foster determined that one does not have to be born into wealth to become wealthy.

Foster's experience includes a Bronze Star earned for his bravery at the Battle of the Bulge, a stint as a successful stockbroker and a wealth teacher and seminar leader who created some of the simplest techniques to becoming wealthy.

Why am I telling you all this? Because I will be giving you a priceless gift. Over the years, Foster and I became very good friends. We would speak with each other at least twice a week, every week; we lectured together, laughed together, exchanged ideas and helped each other in countless ways. You can find my exclusive interview with Foster entitled, "On Becoming Rich," at http://www.insight2000.com/prosperity.html

It has been a few years now since Foster has been gone. But I have several pieces of his writings that I will share with you. There are many success stories that resulted from his teachings. You, too, can overcome your obstacles and create wealth and happiness by reading and putting into action the principles that Foster Hibbard taught. It was Dan Kennedy, no less, who wrote, "When I listen to Foster Hibbard's messages, I get excited. You should, too."

These mini articles are probably not available anywhere else today. Receive them with an open mind and put them to use. It doesn't take faith to practice them. All it takes is a little hope and an open mind. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the positive changes that will occur.

Every few days I'll be sending one of these inspiring and practical articles. If you want to continue receiving them, do nothing; they will keep coming to you. If you do not wish to get them, just go to the bottom of this email and follow the instructions on how to take yourself off this list. There will be seven mini articles in this series. The titles are:

1) An Exciting Discovery

2) The Importance of Money

3) The Money Source

4) Lack vs. Abundance

5) Service Equals Money

6) Ignorance Causes Mistakes

7) Increasing Life's Abundance

Enjoy them. Put them in action and see your life becoming a glorious adventure.

Have a great day and may it be filled with all good things.

Enjoy!

Eight ways to get exactly what you want part 8

8 Resistance isn't futile

HISTORICALLY, psychologists studying persuasion have concentrated on what makes certain messages more appealing than others. But over the past few years researchers have begun revising that idea. A growing body of evidence suggests that breaking down people's resistance to persuasion can be even more important.

The reason for this is that people are naturally suspicious of attempts to persuade them. This is especially true if they think they are being duped.

In laboratory studies, merely reminding people that they are vulnerable to manipulation - for example, showing them magazine adverts with celebrities or models endorsing products they clearly know nothing about - makes them generally more difficult to persuade (Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, vol 83, p 526).

So far so obvious, but there's a useful point here. Resistance means that very persuasive arguments can backfire. People who successfully resist persuasion often become even more entrenched in their wrong-headed opinions, and the stronger, more credible or authoritative they perceive the attempt at persuasion to be, the more certain of their opinions they become when they resist it (Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, vol 83, p 1298).

At first blush, this seems paradoxical. You might think a strong, authoritative argument would hold greater sway. Not necessarily. It seems that if people resist good arguments presented by an expert, they conclude their own arguments must be even stronger.

This sets up a bit of a catch-22. "If you want to change people's attitudes, it's good to have strong arguments," says Zakary Tormala of Stanford University. "But if they manage to resist your message, they might become more certain of the very attitudes you want to change."

How to overcome this deadlock? Tormala's colleague Richard Petty of Ohio State University says: "Present positions closer to your target's views, then move them towards your goal a little at a time." You could also try charming them by boosting their self-esteem. "When people feel good about themselves, they are more open to challenging messages," he says.
