September 13, 2006... From The Desk of Billy Briggs:

Dear Friend,

First, let me say, this is a rather unusual story. Y’see as I’m writing this, just the other week something happened. I was sitting in my front lounge, laptop on my sofa mindlessly watching TV. When there was a knock at the door. Scattering to put on some clothes I wandered over to the window and noticed it was my neighbor…

…Hell’s Bells What Have I Done Now?

…I thought. Opening the door her face was almost red with anger. But after she started to talk it became apparent she wasn’t angry at all. More upset. Because she lives in a nice area: Fairly big house. Sporty car. Big Family. But recently her husbands business has gone down the spout.

It’s a business which provides bus tours all over the area. Mainly catering for tourists. I don’t know the reasons for its sudden bombing, and she asked me not to talk about it on this website. So I’ll skip over to what she said…

“Billy... What the heck do you do for a living.. What's your job” Sarah said looking down at her feet.

I stopped dead. It's a question I get quite a lot. Especially from family and friends. I usually tend to avoid it - quite simply because whatever way I try to explain it people either look at me blankly or call me a liar.

“I only ask because with the recent problems Dave (her husband) has run into at work… We can’t afford to keep up payments on the house. I mean, we can barely put food on the table at the minute.” Sarah said quietly, for Dave was gardening next door.

"No, really," Sarah said nodding... "What do you do? Did you inherit millions from a relative? Or get lucky with shares?"

I have to admit her personal and actually darn rude questions struck a chord with me, then...

… She Told Me Something that Almost Forced Me To Create This Website

She said: “I get out of bed every day, attempt to wake the kids and get them ready for school. Have my shower. Get some clothes on and leave my family to go to work. I work a good 9 hour day, drive home and exhaustedly slump onto the couch.”

“But You! I see you through this window (she points) every single morning. You’re right there on the couch when I get up. Right there when I go to work. And more often that not you’re right there when I get home.”

I nodded uncomfortably, Sarah was getting worked up.

“But it wouldn’t matter if you we’re like the most who do that kind of thing.... Penniless! But (she laughed) you’re not. You’ve got a luxury car. This house. You take regular vacations … god knows why you need them..”

I stopped Sarah right there. She was starting to get annoyed and that’s not what I wanted. With a moment of thought I decided I would tell Sarah something… The reason I can sit on my peach leather couch all day but still keep up with payments on my house, car, holidays etc:

So I told her what I haven't even shared with my friends and family- How I can be a lazy bugger - But be a lazy bugger in a 3 story, 6 bedroom house!

Y’see back in the mid 1980’s – unemployment was at an all-time high. I was just a small child then living with my mother. And we lived in an “ok” house on the posh side of San Diego. As a kid I guess I never gave it much though but my mother (Cathy – god rest her soul) was a hard worker.

She had been a hard working employee for over 20 years until the day she was forced to leave due to company bankruptcy. I remember the couple of weeks after that we we’re living off our savings. The little bit my rather clever mother had kept back. Just incase.

But a few weeks’ later things we’re back to normal. Well not totally normal, because my mother never left in the morning for work. She would see my off from the gates to my school in Mission Bay. And turn straight around and go back inside the house to start work.

Because back then my mother was taking advantage of “this” too. She had an old “Brother Type-A-Graph” typewriter. She would tap away at that all day.

But The Money Kept Rolling In…

At Christmas she even bought me the Bianchi bicycle I was after.

But anyway she was making money “entering data” quite simply. Because at the time direct mail was in full swing. If you don’t know what ‘direct mail’ is… it’s the crappy letters full of hype which are jammed into your mail box every day. Y’know “Refinance your home mortgage...”, “Limited places available on luxury cruise line”. That kind of thing.

But these companies need the lists of customers to send these letters to. And thanks to the lack of technology back then one of the main problems was duplicated customers in the mailing lists. This cost the companies thousands of dollars each mailing, because of wasted resources when Mr Johnson would be mailed the same letter 5 times.

The Truth About Starting an Online Business

from the desk of Coach Donna Gunter

It is possible to make a decent living from online sources. However, to be successful, you'll need to do your research, be willing to invest your time, and persevere when the going gets tough.

Here's my list of 10 things I wish I'd known about Internet marketing when I started my online business: What happens when your Internet marketing empire doesn't take off that quickly or isn't that profitable? You feel like a miserable failure. So, then you invest more time and money to get more information, with similar results. Who really gets rich here? The people selling the information on how to get rich. It begins to feel like a hamster wheel in which you run and run and run but never get anywhere.

I've had a virtual online business since 1999, and it's neither quick nor easy. What I've discovered is that some people can exploit a particular strategy for a short time until someone or something shuts them down, and then they're on to exploiting the next newest strategy until it no longer works, and then they move to yet another new strategy. It's tiring just to write about this process!

As I reflect on my 7 years in business, I really wish I'd known then what I know now. Since I get a number of questions and inquiries every week from "newbies", or business owners new to the Internet marketing world, about how to get started in an online business, here's my list of 10 things I wish I'd known about Internet marketing when I started my online business:

1. Niche your way to riches. Finding the exact market that needs what you have to offer is one of the primary keys to success in any business, but especially when you're trying to do business online. Taking a shotgun approach and foolishly believing that "everyone" needs your product or service is the quickest way to failure. You need to be able to identify and describe your niche market, from determining what problem the niche market is actively trying to solve and what they'll pay for (as well as how much they will pay) to what publications they read, what groups/associations do they belong to, and where they hang out both on- and off-line. The more narrowly focused your niche, the better. So, owners of Golden Retrievers is a better defined niche than dog lovers, and executive female golfers is better than women athletes.

2. Acknowledge your expertise. One of the great difficulties of online business owners is their inability to acknowledge their expertise in an area. It took me years to realize that while others did have a higher level of expertise than me, there was a very large group of people who knew less than me -- and it was to those people I could become an expert! And, better yet, they would pay me to learn it so they didn't have to do through the same trial-and-error method I did.

3. Create a content-packed web site. Content relevant and useful to your target market, embedded with keywords that your target market might use to find you, are the magic wands that enable you to be found on search engines. For years, my web site was simply an online brochure with details of my service offerings. It was not until I regularly started writing articles for my target market and posting those to my web site and blog did I see a noticeable increase in both the amount of traffic to my web site as well as in my number of newsletter subscribers. If you've been in business for awhile, you've got a good idea of the problems that your customers face. Your articles can serve as the solution to the common problems and questions of your target market.

4. Build relationships online. Even though an online business is virtual and you meet few of your clients and prospective clients face-to-face, it is still possible to build trusting relationships online. The most important thing to remember is that your personality needs to shine throughout all of your online ventures. So whether you share personal stories about your life or business (these will be very popular with your visitors), or write articles or web site text in the same way you speak, you need to give visitors an experience of what it means to do business with you. You can also use audio and video on your web site as well as photos of you in action in your business. Remember, most people need to get to know, like and respect you before they'll decide to buy what you have to offer.

5. Discover reputable sources of technical and Internet marketing "how-to" information. Online technology and Internet marketing strategies change from moment to moment, and it's tough to keep up with the latest and greatest innovation. You'll need to read lots of ezines and visit lots of web sites each week just to stay on top of things.

You are responsible to *Create Miracles*!

*Miracles are your responsibility* --

What does that mean?

Simple?

You have a responsibility to create miracles in your own life. The responsibility lies on your shoulders. You cannot blame anyone else, and you can't look outside of yourself for someone else to create the miracles for you.

In this article, I'm going to break down the word *Miracle*, because each of you have a responsibility.

As you know, my Why is to impact others, change the world one heart at a time and create 1,000 Millio-naires!

As you read this today, my goal is for you to take responsibility and realize that you have the innate ability to create miracles.

The letter *M* means Momentum, which is created by you. You must create Momentum in your life for yourself, for your Why, for your family, for your success, for your finances, for your health!

-- *YOU create Momentum* --

No one else will do it for you. You aren't a surfer waiting for the next wave to come in. You and only you must create your own Momentum to drive you toward creating your Miracle!

The letter *I* stands for Incentive. You must have something inciting you to action your ultimate *Why*. Why are you doing what you are doing? Why do you want to begin that business? An Incentive builds the foundation that keeps you focused on your Miracle.

No doubt about it!

But again, it is your responsibility to determine what your incentive is and how it will drive you toward your Miracle.

The letter *R* stands for Revelation. As you read this today, get a Revelation! It's your responsibility - no one else's. It doesn't matter who you are, where you came from, how much money you have - get a Revelation.

YOU can and will create Miracles!!! :)

The letter *A* stands for Action. I know you've heard this before, but read this today, print it out and decide that you are going to take Action to create Miracles. Once again, no one will do it for you! Take the Action that you know that you need to take to create your Miracle.

The letter *C* stands for Commitment. Finally, once and for all, drive right into it - get Committed to your Miracle! It's your responsibility.

Go for it!

The letter *L* stands for Love. You must Love what you do. You must Love the Miracle that you are focused on creating. If your Miracle is all about money - you will fail! Your Miracle cannot be based on money. Your Miracle must be based on what you can do to impact the world, which will produce everlasting results.

You will produce true Miracles!

Don't let anyone else tell you what you must do for mo.ney. Love what you do and create your own Miracles.

The letter *E* stands for Energy. Your gonna need Energy to create your Miracle. There's no such thing as it falling in your lap, luck or winning the lotto in a success mindset. It takes hard work! You need the Energy to take those daily action steps to create your Miracle.

Again, it is your responsibility to maintain your Energy to create your Miracle.

Miracle - It's your responsibility!

Always remember...

Champions make decisions and Decisions make *Millionaire Champions*!
